PRF’s research has contributed to improvements of health of Bangladeshi citizens and has supported the career development of numerous Bangladeshi public health professionals. Projahnmo Research Foundation is seeking qualified and motivated applicants from Bangladeshi nationals for the position of Junior Bioinformatician for a project on Momi Bio-respiratory Platform in Bangladesh

 

Duty station: Dhaka

 

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Junior Bioinformatician at the Projahnmo Research Foundation (PRF), you will have the opportunity to work in a Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and PRF collaborative project, allowing you to work closely with experienced bioinformaticians and researchers, gaining hands-on experience in analyzing biological data and contributing to meaningful research projects. You will play a crucial role in supporting data analysis, pipeline development, and data visualization activities while building a strong skill set in bioinformatics techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Processing: Assist in the preprocessing and quality control of various biological data types, including genomics, metabolomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and epigenetic data.

Data Analysis: Learn and apply bioinformatics tools and software to perform basic analyses, such as gene expression analysis, variant calling, and sequence alignment.

Pipeline Development: Contribute to developing, testing, and optimizing bioinformatics pipelines and workflows under the guidance of senior team members.

Data Visualization: Generate clear and informative visualizations to help present results, aiding in the understanding of complex biological data.

Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biologists, geneticists, and clinicians, to understand analysis goals and deliver accurate results.

Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of analysis methods, data sources, and results to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing.

Learning and Growth: Actively engage in learning opportunities to expand your knowledge of bioinformatics tools, programming languages, and analytical techniques.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a related field. Educational requirements can be relaxed for candidates with relevant experience

Basic programming skills in languages such as Python and R.

Strong interest in bioinformatics and genomics.

Familiarity with basic bioinformatics tools and concepts.

Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.

Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

 

Preferred:

Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.

Experience with scripting languages.

Coursework or projects related to bioinformatics or genomics.

Exposure to data visualization tools and techniques.

 

Job Nature   : Fixed term.

 

Salary         : Negotiable.

 

 

The appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 1 year but may be extended for further period depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
